When I was a child I loved to watch my father and his friends play their weekly poker game, and I used to dream that one day I would be able to join them. Poker was for me the Holy Grail, and it symbolized for me all that I wanted to be. I wanted to be an adult, play poker with my father and his friends and smoke his sweet smelling cigarettes.
However, those hopes were dashed when my father died of massive heart failure a few weeks after my tenth birthday. That was the year when i promised to myself that the memory of my father's weekly poker nights would not be forgotten. It was truly the turning point of my life and I would make sure that it would stay that way. At first it was uphill going, and I was at times depressed and forlorn. However, I persevered and taught myself how to play poker and poker texas hold em. When I was ready, I went to the local casino and started playing there. At first the other players would not play with me, since they thought that i was to young and too inexperienced to really know the game. However, in time I showed them that i knew the game as well as or better than they did.
